The Holy City

What is Charleston best known for?

Charleston is best known for its colorful architecture, Spanish-moss draped trees, historic homes, grand gardens and low country cuisine. There are also several neighboring beach communities that are worth a visit, such as Folly Beach, Sullivan's Island and Isle of Palms.

Stroll downtown, walking south down King Street, past bars, boutiques and southern style restaurants. Visit our beautiful beaches,  north over the Arthur Ravenel Bridge to Sullivan’s Island or south to Folly Beach. Must-see stops include Magnolia Plantation & Gardens and Middleton Place.
